IMA/BAP Open Meeting

Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 4:30pm - 5:45pm

The IMA Student Chapter and Beta Alpha Psi are student business organizations that focus on accounting, finance and management information systems. Not only do they provide an environment where students can interact with fellow peers, but it also enhances the importance of business professionalism and ethic responbility.

The IMA Student Chapter is a voluntary organization of IMA Student Members enrolled at a recognized institution of higher education, operating under the sponsorship of an IMA Parent Chapter or IMA Regional Council. The IMA offers programs to assist in obtaining the Certified Management Accountant (CMA), an advanced certification that establishes the critical accounting and financial management skills demanded by today’s dynamic businesses, translating into significant career opportunities.

IMA membership provides opportunities for students to associate with business professionals; to see how they live, work and apply their knowledge; and to learn that professionals are seriously devoted to ethical standards and to advancement of their profession. Student members have three objectives:
1.To introduce business concepts to students planning professional careers
2.To strengthen the knowledge and commitment of those already pursuing business careers
3.To demonstrate how IMA members work together for the continued improvement of their professional careers

Beta Alpha Psi is a national honorary organization for accounting, finance and management information system students and professionals. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business financial information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and management information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals through weekly meetings; and encouraging a sense of ethical, social and public responsibility.
