Free Poetry Workshop

Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 12:00pm - 2:00pm

Free Poetry Workshop at Washington State University Vancouver’s Writing Center with Ghost Town Poetry Open Mic Founder Christopher Luna

Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced writer, this informal workshop will help you to generate new work. We will listen to, read, and discuss poetry as a way to lead into writing exercises. While this is not a critique group, room will be made for constructive discussion of writing and revision strategies. This workshop will be a fun and relaxed way to get your creative juices flowing and connect with Vancouver’s growing literary community.

Writing Center consultant Christopher Luna has an MFA in Writing and Poetics from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University and more than two decades of experience as a creative writing teacher and workshop leader. He is the co-founder, with Toni Partington, of Printed Matter Vancouver, whose books include Ghost Town Poetry, an anthology of poems from the popular Vancouver, WA open mic reading he founded in 2004, and Serenity in the Brutal Garden, the debut collection by Vancouver poet Jenney Pauer. His books include GHOST TOWN, USA and The Flame Is Ours: The Letters of Stan Brakhage and Michael McClure 1961-1978, an important piece of film and literary history that Luna edited at Brakhage’s request, available on Michael Rothenberg’s Big Bridge.org.
