2013 Diversity Film Festival: "Water"
Thursday, September 19, 2013 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm
In 2001, there were 34 million widowed women in India. Chuyia is an eight-year-old widow. Her marriage, which she doesn’t even remember, was arranged by her family for financial reasons. But no matter what her circumstances, Hindu law says she must now leave society. Widows’ lives are spent in renunciation. “Water” examines the effect on the human spirit when reason is denied for the sake of faith.
